THE STORY
Written by Alexandra Christie
When walking in the woods, be careful not to wake the sleeping dryad.
Note the waxy cap mushrooms that grow like fur upon her legs, signifying how long she has been resting. The deepness of her slumber reveals itself in the ever-germinating moss and encroaching trees.
She hibernates, and as she does she herself becomes the forest. Years down the line she will awaken, reinvigorated, but for now tread carefully. She is pollinating the forest in a symbiotic love language that only her kind can sustain.
Take a breath, go peacefully, and let her rest.
